Keonjhar: In yet another case of human-animal conflict in the State, a youth sustained critical injury after being attacked by a wild bear in Durgapur village under Champua Forest Range in Keonjhar district today.
The victim has been identified as Majura Munda of the same village.
As per the report, Majura had gone to attend nature’s call at a farmland near his house in the wee hours when the predator attack took place.
A wild bear which had sneaked into the village in search of food last night pounced on Majura and bit him on his thigh and hand before fleeing into the forest.
The victim bled profusely and was rushed to Jhumpura Community Health Centre (CHC) immediately for treatment by some locals. His condition is stated to be critical due to excess bleeding.
Forest officials have reached the village to take stock of the situation.
