Kamakhyanagar: A youth sustained critical injury after miscreants attacked him with sharp weapons in the Arkahapal village under Kamakhyanagar police limits in Dhenkanal district last night.
The victim has been identified as Srikant Sahu of Arakhpal village.
Srikant was returning home from work riding a bike late in the night when Gourang Nayak, Bidura Baral, Ganga Behera and Lata Baral of the village intercepted him. After an initial verbal abuse they struck him with swords and cudgels. The attackers brutally hacked the victim on his hands and legs and fled the spot.
Srikant, who bled profusely on the spot and fell unconscious was rushed to the Kamakhyanagar sub-divisonal hospital by family members later in the night, was shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack today morning.
Srikant’s family members have lodged a complaint against the attackers at the Kamakhyanagar Police Station. They have informed that the attack took place over a past enmity and demanded stringent action against the accused.
