Cuttack: A youth has committed suicide by jumping off the Kathajodi bridge into the river this morning. The deceased youth has been identified as Sapan Kumar Behera, a resident of Kharavela Nagar of Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, Sapan went out of his home late last night and arrived at Katha jodi bridge on his Activa scooter, bearing registration number OR 02 PR 7956, on the bridge. Thereafter he jumped off into river.
The locals who were passing by the road spotted him and immediately informed to the local fire fighters and police. On getting the information, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) team and Police Commissionerate team arrived at the spot.
The ODRAF team launched a search operation immediately to trace the missing youth and recovered Sapan’s body from river.
Till the last reports came in, Sapan’s family has said that he was mental trauma due to some reason. Police Commissionerate has initiated a further probe into the matter.
