Balangir: Police on Monday lodged a case against a youth from Kukudahada village under Kantabanji police limits after he allegedly deserted a minor tribal girl after maintaining physical relationship with her on the false pretext of marriage.
The accused youth has been identified as Manjit Saraf, son of Parameshwar Saraf of Kukudahada village.
As per the complaint file by the victim girl with Kantabanji Police, the accused developed a relationship with her during his stay at his maternal uncle’s house in Singhamunda village under Balangir police limits last month. Later he took the girl with him to Nuapada area near Kantabanji on June 7 forcibly and started living with her there in a rented house as husband and wife.
The victim has alleged that Manjit raped him regularly for about a month on pretext of marrying her during their stay in Nuapada before vanishing away on July 7.
The girl reached Kantabanji Police Station with her family on Sunday and filed a complaint against the accused after coming to know that he is planning to marry another girl.
“The accused has been charged under Sections 363,366 and 376 of IPC as well as under POCSO and ST/SC Act. Raids are being conducted at different to nab him,” said Prafulla Kumar Mishra, SDPO, Kantabanji.
