Daringbadi: Police has arrested a youth for impregnating a minor girl in Kandhamal district. The accused has been identified as Jeremiah Pradhan of Dadamaha village.
The incident took place at Simonbadi area under Daringbadi police limit in Kandhamal district. The victim is a Class VIII student.
As per the allegation of the victim’s family members, a few months back, the accused took away the 13-year-old minor girl to the nearby forest and raped her. The incident took place when the girl was returning from the School.
A case has been registered under the relevant section of IPC and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and the investigation is going on, Police said.
A social activist Chakradhar Mallick said that due to lack of awareness and counseling to teenagers such incidents are going on. However, senior advocate Umesh Kar and a leader Bilasini Nayak condemned it.
Earlier, in another case, a class VIII girl from Daringbadi High School had given birth to a girl child for which disciplinary action had been taken against all the staffs of her School.
