Young DSP uses Gandhigiri in Malkangiri to clean drainage

Malkangiri: In a bid to create awareness among the people, a young Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) used Gandhigiri to clean drainage in Maoist affected Govindpali area in the district here on Monday.

According to reports, DSP Manas Ranjan Barik , along with some of his subordinates, cleaned the drainage and roads at Govindpali town under Mathili police limits of the district.

The cleanliness drive of the police personnel begun near Govindpali bus stand and reached important areas of the town.

Earlier, Barik had issued notice to more than 500 people for dumping wastages on the drainage and roadside in the town. However, he swung into action after no one responded to the notice.

Significantly, the DSP also conducted raids on the shops which were dumping wastages during the cleanliness drive and sized liquor from them which were being sold illegally.

He also advised the shopkeepers to maintain cleanliness in and around their shops and gave prizes to those shop owners who had kept their surroundings clean.

The Gandhigiri of Barik was highly appreciated by one and all in the district and outside.
