Balasore: Yet another minor girl has been raped at Sujagada village under Khaira police limits of the district.
Though the 14-year-old was raped by one Jagabadhu Mallik aka Pandab on April 13, the incident came to fore only when the victim lodged FIR against the accused on April 15. Since then, police had initiated an investigation and arrested the accused today.
“An eighth class student of Khaira area had on April 15 filed a complaint against Jagabadhu Mallik aka Pandab, a Plus Two student of Khaira college, alleging that the accused forcibly took the victim to a banana farm and sexually assaulted her while she was returning from tuition,” said Lopamudra Naik, IIC, Khaira police station.
“Acting on the complaint, we had lodged a case (no 68) under section 341, 323, 354-B and 376 of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act), 2012. The accused has been arrested. He was forwarded to the court after medical examination,” Naik added.
This is the second minor rape case reported from the district in the last five days.
One Nityachandan Jena was arrested by the special team of Nilagiri Police from Bhadrak yesterday for raping a four-year-old girl.
Jena (24), who lives next door to the victim, had lured her on the pretext of giving a chocolate on Friday. Later, he raped her by taking her into a dark room in his house at Hatasahi village under Nilagiri Police Station of the district.
