Yellow warning issued to 11 districts for heavy rainfall in next 24 hour

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here informed that 11 districts of Odisha are likely to witness heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.

The weather department has issued a yellow warning for the heavy rainfall which is likely to occur between the 8.30 AM of July 8 and 8.30 AM of July 9.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri, informed the Met office.

Notably, six districts including Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, and Malkangiri have received yellow warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall. These districts are expected to receive 12 to 20 cm of rainfall.

It is pertinent to mention that the MeT has predicted two low-pressure areas to form next week due to which Odisha is likely to continue to receive spells of rain till July 15. The two predicted low-pressure areas are likely to develop on July 9 and July 13. The weather department has further predicted heavy rains on July 10 and July 14 across the State while very heavy rainfall in some parts of south Odisha.
