Yellow warning for heavy rainfall in 10 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: A Low Pressure Area now lies over southeast Jharkhand & neighbourhood with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards, tweets Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar today morning.

Under the influence, heavy rainfall and thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is likely to occur in several parts of Odisha on September 22.

The Met Centre has issued yellow warning for heavy rainfall in 10 districts, including Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Angul, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Subarnapur, Deogarh and Sundergarh for 24 hours.

Similarly, yellow warning have been alerted for Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi on Sep 23. On the other hand, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over East Central and adjoining North East Bay of Bengal around 25th September. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and reach Odisha coast during the subsequent 48 hours.

A fresh spell of heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Odisha from 26th September.

Odisha Special Relief Commission (SRC) directed all the district collectors to stay alert for any emergency situation that may arise due to rainfall triggered the low pressure.
