Year after marriage, woman found hanging at residence in Ganjam

Berhampur: A 24-year-old married woman was found hanging at her residence at S.Gopalpur village under Patapur police limits of Ganjam district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Basanti Pradhan, wife of Krushna Pradhan of the village.

On being informed, Patapur police reached the spot and sent the body to MKCG hospital here for autopsy test.

The police also detained Krushna and began to probe into the matter.

“Investigation is on. The reason behind her death will be cleared after the autopsy report”, said Ramesh Chandra Pradhan, IIC, Patapur.

According to reports, the body of Basanti was found hanging by her husband this morning. Basanti and Krushna had got married a year ago.

Meanwhile, Basanti’s family told Kalinga TV that she was “mentally and physically tortured” by her husband.
