Bhubaneswar: Students of Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, (XUB) staged dharna at the varsity campus at Jatni in Khordha district on Tuesday alleging cheating over issuance of MBA degree certificate to them.
The protesting students also detained six officials including the Dean of the varsity and locked the main gate of the institution to press their demand to issue certificates with XIMB logo.
Meanwhile, the parents of the agitating students joined the stir, which has continued today.
They protesting students alleged that they were promised degrees under the banner of the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, (XIMB) and not the XUB. Moreover, the XIMB logo has also been denied in their degree certificates of HRM, RM and SM.
“The XIMB logo and the name are used extensively right from the advertisement for XAT-2016 Entrance test, admission processes, admission bulletin for 2016, payment of fees, welcome address by the VC, issue of student’s identity card and also in case of correspondence, ” alleged one of the protesting students.
“Denial of using the XIMB logo with name for the MBA degree for 2016-18 batch is a breach of trust”, he added.
Another student said, “The Degree certificate for the batch 2016-18 of HRM, RM and SM students is issued without XIMB logo whereas the same is issued in the MBA Degree Certificate for BM students of same batch. This is sheer discrimination for the students of HRM, RM and SM of 2016-18 batch.”
Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, (XUB) is a private university established in accordance with the Xavier University Odisha Act, 2013. Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, (XIMB), a 30-year old autonomous business school of the Xavier University, is the flagship school of the faculty of management of the same university.
