World Autism Awareness Day 2022: SSEPD holds rally in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: An awareness rally was held by the Odisha government’s Social Security & Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities Department (SSEPD)  in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day today.

Reportedly, the Department started the rally from near Ram Mandir in Janpath and took a tour of the city following which they reached Bhima Bhoi School For The Blind.

The rally was attended by Minister Ashok Panda, Mayor Sulochana Das, and MLA Anant Narayan Jena. The main motive behind this rally was to spread awareness among the people. They advised that the parents should be careful and should guide children with autism in a proper way.

As a major global health issue, World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated on April 2 globally each year to spread awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which is a neuro-developmental disorder that distorts the communication and social interaction skills of a person.

Notably, the symptoms of ASD can be detected before a child reaches the age of three years old, and the disorder is mainly caused by genetics and biological differences in brain development. However, the disorder can be effectively dealt with if the patient or parents seek medical help as soon as possible after the diagnosis.

What is the theme of World Autism Awareness Day 2022?

This year, the theme of World Autism Awareness Day is ‘Inclusive Quality Education for All’. Everybody will focus on providing inclusive and fair education to all.

World Autism Day 2022 will also focus on promoting lifelong learning opportunities for everybody. Fair education for all is the foundation for improving the lives of people and decreasing inequalities.

The idea emphasizes the significant need for quality education for all the individuals affected with autism, which may further help them unlock their full potential to achieve long-term career success.
