Subarnapur: Many women from Badakhamar village of Birmaharajpur of Subarnapur district came together on Tuesday to oppose the sale of liquor in local grocery shops.
For the last three months, there has been an uncontrolled sale of foreign and country liquor at grocery shops in Badakhamar village. This unrestricted sale led to many unsocial activities in the area.
Finally fed up of the chain of activities the women of Badakhamar village came together to constitute a women’s union whose prime motto was to put a stop on liquor sale in grocery shops. They met at the panchayat and promised to put an end to sale.
The women went on a march holding placards and then forcefully entered the alleged grocery shops and destroyed the liquor.
