Women pay homage to Pulwama martyrs in Anandpur of Odisha

Hundreds of women set out in a Kalas Yatra and performed Jala-abhishek to condole the martyrs’ families

Keonjhar: At a time when people across India are paying tribute to the Pulwama martyrs, hundreds of women in Anandpur of Keonjhar today paid homage to the martyrs in a unique way. They set out in a Kalas Yatra, roamed around the city and performed Jala-Abhishek at a temple.

Hundreds of women filled water in 108 pots at the Baitarani River ghat today and went in a procession as a token of reverence to the Pulwama martyrs in Anandpur.

The convoy roamed around the city and finally reached the Jhadeshwar temple. There they poured water one by one on the Shivalinga that is called Jalabhishek. The women’s endevour was to pray to God so that the soul of the martyrs may rest in peace. The procession also included social workers and intellectuals.

On this occasion social worker, Dr. Fakir Charan Naik said, “Families of the martyrs should not think they are alone. We all are with them. Now, it is time that India should heavily retaliate against Pakistan as the neighbour country is repeatedly attacking us. There should be another surgical strike. And this time the attack should be horrendous so that a place called Pakistan be wiped out of the world map.”

Social worker Tikirani Sahu said, “Today many women and men are assembled here to pay homage to the Pulwama martyrs. We all Indians are brothers and sisters. It is high time now that we should be united to punch a heavy blow against Pakistan.”

An intellectual Sambhunath Rout said, “I believe the martyrs are now at a place where they are praying God that it is He who can now do something to make the Indo –Pak relation fertile. God may provide wisdom to Pakistan to refrain it from pushing terrorist attacks.”
