Berhampur: A newborn baby girl was found abandoned but alive near Kadapada village under Jagannath Prasad police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, a group of women heard the sound of the crying of the infant when they were passing through the village road in the wee hours of today.
The women rescued the baby and rushed her to a hospital in Jagannath Prasad. Her health condition was stated to be stable when the last reports came in.
On being informed, local police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter.
“We are trying to find out the parents of the newborn baby girl and who had dumped the girl near the roadside. Further investigation is underway,” police said.
