Women Block Road Over Drinking Water Crisis In Keonjhar

Bansapal (Keonjhar): Exasperated over acute drinking water shortage in their village, hundreds of women from Nayakot village under Bansapal block in Odisha’s Keonjhar district today took to the streets and blocked the Suakati-Dabuna Road near their village.

Women and children with empty buckets and pitchers in their hands sat on the road, disrupting the movement of traffic due to which several vehicles were left stranded.

The women said they were forced to hit streets since the administration, which had promised to solve the acute water crisis in the area, had failed to keep its words.

The villagers said they will continue their agitation until the administration takes adequate measures to solve the water crisis in the area. They also expressed displeasure over the fact that none of the officials have intervened the matter or given assurance for solving the problem soon.
