Balangir: Tension prevailed in Samalei Nagar in Ichhapada of Balangir district today, after body of a married woman was found hanging from a tree in the area under mysterious conditions.
The deceased woman has been identified as Sushma Seth of Khuntapali village.
Sushma, who had befriended a local youth went out of her home last evening in some work and didn’t return till 9 pm. Although, the family of the victim inquired the concerned friend about her whereabouts, he failed answer. Her body was spotted hanging from a tree with saree, this morning by some residents who called up police.
Police have reached the spot and seized the body for autopsy.
While an investigation is underway into the incident, locals have suspected it to be a case of murder as the deceased’s body was spotted touching the ground while hanging from the tree.
