Woman’s body found hanging from tree, family alleges murder by inlaws

Dhenkanal: Tension prevailed in Gangijodi village under Tumusinga police station in Dhenkanal district today after the body of a woman found hanging to a tree near her in-laws house and the deceased’s family alleged he had been murdered.

The deceased has been identified as Shibani Nayak, daughter of Gagan Nayak of Tuntulihata village of Banarpal police limits of the same district.

As per the in-laws of Shibani, who had married one Daktar Nayak of Gangijodi village about seven years ago indulged in a heated argument with them last evening. In a fit of rage she went to a field located near her house and hung her from a teak tree to commit suicide.

After the news of Shibani reached her parents they lodged a complaint with Tumusinga Police Station alleging that their daughter had been killed by her husband over family feud.

Tumusinga Police reached the spot and seized the body for autopsy to ascertain the cause of the death of the woman.

Further investigation is underway in the case.
