Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, a woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Mohanpasi village in Mahabirod range of Dhenkanal district last night.
The deceased has been identfied as Sukanti Hembram.
Sources said, Sukanti along with her husband were sleeping when a wild elephant entered into the village and attacked her, following which she was killed on the spot.
On being informed, the Mohabiroad Ranger reached the spot and have promised to give the deceased family compensation.
The villagers are spending sleepless nights as the jumbos are creating havoc in the range since the last few days.
Further investigation in this regard is underway.
