Khordha: Tightening the noose around the necks of corrupt officials, Vigilance sleuths today arrested a woman Executive Officer of Jatni Municipality red-handed while taking bribe from a retired employee to release his pension.
As per the report, the accused identified as Lalita Kapoor had demanded a sum of Rs 10,000 from one Amin Sahu to release his pension money a few days ago. However, finding himself unable to pay the amount, Sahu had lodged a complaint with Khordha Vigilance unit in connection with the case later.
Acting upon the complaint, the Vigilance officials led a trap and caught Kapoor while accepting Rs 5,000 which the complainant was paying her as installment for the bribe amount.
The accused will be forwarded to court today, informed Vigilance sources.
