Woman kills minor daughter over love affair in Odisha

Sundergarh: In a shocking incident, a minor girl has been allegedly killed by her mother in Kalamegha village under Hemagir police limits in Sundergarh district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Deepanjali Vohra (17).

Reportedly, Deepanjali had a love affair with a boy for the past couple of months and her mother was strictly objecting to the relationship. The accused mother has been asking Deepanjali to cut off all the contacts with her lover. Due to this, Deepanjali was having a disturbed relationship with her mother.

Later this morning, an argument erupted between the mother-daughter duo while Deepanjali was talking with her lover over a call. In a fit of rage, the accused attacked Deepanjali with a wooden plank and subsequently with a grinding stone and Deepanjali lost her life on the spot.

Following the deadly attack, the accused consumed pesticides kept at home in a bid to kill herself and turned critical.

The neighbors rushed the accused to Hemagir Community Health Centre (CHC) for immediate treatment.

On getting the information, the local police along with a scientific team arrived at the scene to investigate. It is learnt that the accused has confessed her crime in front of the police during interrogation. As the police probe is underway, the police team has not yet given any official statement into the matter.
