Bhadrak: A woman sustained burn injury and at least 10 houses of four families were completely gutted in a massive fire which broke out in Kahadimahara village under Dhusuri Police Station area in the district last night.
As per the report, sparks erupted in one Tapan Panda’s house while all members in his family were asleep. Till he knew about the incident and raised an alarm from firefighting efforts, the blaze had spread to nine more houses in the locality.
Later, fire brigade teams from Dhamnagar reached the spot after getting intimation and brought the flames under control. However, till then valuable assets including Rs 2 lakh in cash belonging to Tapan along with furniture, jewellery and paddy and rice stored in the houses had turned into ashes.
A woman who sustained injury while trying to escape from the houses on fire has been admitted to Dhusuri CHC for treatment.
An investigation is underway by police to find out the cause behind the fire.
