Sambalpur: A woman was allegedly gang raped by four persons under Ainthapali police station limits in the district on Saturday night.
The married woman hailing from Hirakuda area is currently undergoing treatment at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla. Doctors said that the health condition of the victim is still critical.
As per reports, the woman had been to Sambalpur town for some work on Saturday evening. “The woman claimed that two men offered her a lift to drop her at her home and took her to an isolated place. Two others joined them and all of them took turns to rape her,” said a police official.
The woman was found lying in an unconscious state this morning. Later she was admitted to the VIMSAR. The woman, however, narrated her ordeal after gaining consciousness.
Police have detained four persons in this connection and are further interrogating them.
