Keonjhar: At least two persons including a woman were critically burnt in a fire which broke out at a house in Kandrapal village under Ramachandrapur police limits in Keonjhar district last night.
The victims have been identified as Sanjibani Barik and his father-in-law Narottam Barik.
As per the report, Sanjibani was preparing tea in the kitchen last night when her saree caught fire due to carelessness. Hearing her scream Narottam reached out to help him but was engulfed in the flames.
The victim duo could be saved only after Sanjibani’s brother-in-law Narayan rushed to the spot and somehow doused the fire.
The victim duo was later rushed to Anandpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment with critical burn injuries and then Sanjibani was shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack.
