Woman dies of snakebite, family resorts to black magic

Bargarh: In yet another case of regressive practises still existing in the remote parts of the State, family members of a woman killed of snakebite in Changaria village under Padampur area Bargarh district today tried to bring her back to life by performing black magic.

As per the report, the victim identified as one Saptashila Bhoi of the same village had been bitten by a venomous snake last night while in sleep. After she turned critical due to the impact of the poison of the reptile, family members rushed her to Padampur Hospital immediately. Doctors declared her brought dead soon after receiving.

However, instead of cremating the body, the victim’s family members subjected it to black magic this morning after getting misguided by a village quack, who promised to bring the dead back to life.

As the efforts of the quack went in vein the body was cremated later.
