Keonjhar: A woman died of snakebite in Anandapur town of Keonjhar district in Odisha on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Puni Mallick of Malik Sahi of the town.
According to sources, Puni was fast asleep last night when a venomous snake bit her. She woke up from her bed, only to find out that she was bitten by a snake.
She immediately alerted other family members and informed them about the matter.
The family members rushed her to Anandpur Sub-Divisional Hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors who were on duty declared her dead after preliminary examination.
The species of the snake which bit Puni still remains unknown.
Sources said that Puni had been married for the last three years. But, she had been living with her parents for the last two months due to some unknown, where the incident took place.
