Woman delivers quadruplets in KIMS Hospital, Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A woman has successfully delivered quadruplets (four babies) at the Kalinga Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) here on Friday. The babies, as well as the mother, are fine.

“It’s the first case of its kind in my entire career so far when a woman, gave birth to four babies and all of them survived. Earlier I had conducted an operation in a similar case, but then all the four babies did not survive” said the doctor.

The woman Nibedita is a native of Basudevpur village in Bhadrak district. Asked whether she is happy the patient said with a smile, “I am very happy. However, if it would have been a combination of boys and girls, I would have been happier.”

“When the patient was brought to us we planned the operation keeping all necessary arrangements in place to make sure the operation was successful,” said the doctor.

Although the mother and the newborns are fine, stil the doctors are monitoring their health.

The doctors have also made arrangements to ensure that infants are given adequate nutrition.

As the news spread among medical fraternity in the state capital, many people including doctors inquired about the health of the mother and her children.
