Woman delivers baby girl in train at Odisha’s Jaleswar station

Balasore: A woman delivered a baby girl at Jaleswar railway station in Balasore district of Odisha on Monday.

She gave birth to the girl in Secunderabad-Guwahati Express as it remained halted at the station following protests by tribals.

The woman who hails from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh was travelling to Guwahati.

The train halted at the station for more than 12 hours as tribals in at Nekurseni in West Bengal staged a rail roko demonstration to press their demands.

The tribals are spearheading the protest demanding implementation of Ol Chiki scripts in schools and colleges.

Train operations on the route was massively disrupted following protests by tribals.
