Woman delivers at quarantine centre in Odisha

Jeypore: A woman gave birth to a baby boy at a quarantine centre in Odisha’s Koraput district on Wednesday.

The woman, who has been identified as a resident of Pradhaniput village, was put in the quarantine centre at Katharagada village under Borigumma block of the district.

She reportedly developed labour pain  yesterday evening following which the local Anganwadi, accredited social health activist (ASHA), and sarpanch rushed to the quarantine centre after the Block Development Officer (BDO) directed them and helped the woman to deliver the baby at the centre.

Later, the woman and the newborn were shifted to Kumuli Community Health Centre.

The woman, her husband along with 30 other migrants, who were working at a brick kiln in Bhadrachalam of Telangana, were kept in the quarantine centre after they returned to Odisha.
