Soro: At least one woman was killed and her son sustained critical injury following a head-on collision between two bikes at Gandibed under Khaira police limits yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Sabitri Panda (39).
The mishap took place last afternoon while the mother-son duo was heading to a nearby village in some work. On Gandibed road, rider of a speeding bike which was coming from the opposite direction lost control over the wheels and hit their bike from the front. Sabitri fell off the bike under the impact of the collision and sustained grievous head injury. Her son also sustained critical injury in the crash.
The mother-son duo was rushed to Simulia Community Health Centre (CHC) by some locals immediately where doctors declared Sabitri brought dead.
The condition of the deceased’s son continues to be critical.
Police have seized the mangled bike and lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident.
