Gop: A middle-aged woman sustained critical burn injury after attempting suicide by setting her ablaze over a family feud in Bedapur village under Gop block in Puri district today.
The victim has been identified as Bineeta Behera (40).
As per the report, a heated argument erupted between Bineeta and her family members this morning over a certain issue. Later, as the verbal duel escalated further the victims doused herself in Kerosene and set to fire.
She was rescued by his family members and neighbours after sustaining 80 percent burn injury in the attempt to rush to the Gop Community Health Centre (CHC).
The victim has alleged that her family was trying to drive her out of home and in a preparation to send to an ‘ashram’ due to which she took the extreme step.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
