Soro: A woman sustained critical injuries after being attacked by a relative over family feud under Raintara village under Khaira police limits in Balasore district last night.
The victim has been identified as Shakuntala Das, wife of Sushant Das of the same locality.
As per a complaint filed by the victim’s kin at Khaira Police Station, Shakuntala’s nephew and the accused Bhagabat Das had thrashed her mercilessly around five days ago over a family feud.
While a complaint had been lodged against Bhagabat in connection with the incident, he again attacked Shakuntala to avenge the past enmity while she was out of her home to attend nature’s call.
After Bhagabat tried to slit the throat of the victim woman she raised an alarm post which he fled from the spot.
Family members rushed the victim to Khaira medical for treatment later in the night and she is out of danger now.
Police have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding accused in the case.
