New Delhi: The Winter Session of Parliament began on Friday. The session will have 14 sittings of both the Houses and is scheduled to end on January 5, 2018.

During the session, the Muslim Women Rights on Marriage Bill related to triple talaq issue and legislation on granting Constitutional status to the Backward Class Commission are among the important bills which will be taken up for discussion and passage.

The Lok Sabha will be adjourned for the day today after paying tributes to its sitting and former members who passed away after the Monsoon Session.

The Session is likely to be stormy as the Opposition parties led by Congress are gearing up to corner the government raising several issues including the Rafale deal, the adverse impact of GST and demonetisation on the economy, the plight of farmers and religious intolerance.

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MPs will raise Mahanadi tribunal, Polavaram project, MSP hike of paddy and other issues related to the interest of Odisha during the Session, informed BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Deb on Thursday.
