Wild jumbo tramples woman to death in Jharsuguda, people in panic

Jharsuguda: With no respite in site from elephant attack related casualty in the state, a woman was trampled to death by a jumbo in Bhoimunda village under Brajarajnagar police limits in the district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Bharati Khadia (33).

The jumbo attack took place early this morning while Khadia was out of her home for daily chores. The jumbo which had sneaked into the village last night in search of food, pounced on the victim immediately and trampled her to death.

Forest officials rushed to the spot after being intimated on the incident and launched an effort to keep the jumbo away from the human settlements.

Brajarajnagar police reached the spot later and seized the body for autopsy.

While, the forest officials informed that the elephant has sneaked into the forest near Prachi hospital, the locals are in a state of panic.
