Wild jumbo tramples man to death in Boudh village

Boudh: In yet another incident of pachyderm attack in the state, a man was trampled to death by a wild elephant under Kantamal Forest Range in Boudh district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Bharat Bagarty of Palasapadar village of the same district.

The mishap took place early in the morning while the victim was on his way to a crop field located near his village to attend nature’s call. He came across the jumbo which had sneaked into the crop field in search of food last night and tried to escape. However, the animal lifted him with the trunk and threw to a distance before trampling to death.

Forest Officials and family members of the deceased reached the spot later in the morning and recovered the body.

While the deceased has been rushed for autopsy, the locals have demanded compensation for his family.
