Wild elephants spread panic in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: People in Hatadihi area in the district have been in a state of panic for the last two days as a herd of wild elephants caused extensive damage to the standing vegetable and paddy crops in the area.

The wild elephants have reportedly entered Madhuban Village near the Hadagarh (W.I) range last night.  The villagers, who have been worried over the wild elephant menace, resorted to chasing away the elephants by beating drums and bursting crackers.

The forest officials informed that efforts are being made to drive away the elephants into the jungle.

On Saturday, a man was trampled to death by an elephant in Kalibeda village in the district.
