Wild Elephant tramples woman to death in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A 60-year-old woman was allegedly trampled to death by a wild elephant in Keonjhar district in Odisha on Wednesday, Forest official Bhhupati Naik informed.

The deceased has been identified as Palo Naik of Sendkap village under Sadar Police limits in the district.

According to reports, Palo went to the nearby forest in the wee hours today when she was attacked by a wild elephant. Several injury marks were spotted in her hand and other body parts.

On being informed, the local forest as well as police officials reached the spot and seized the body.

Meanwhile, the Sadar Police registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for autopsy test. The details will be ascertained after the autopsy report, police said.

The nearest kin of the deceased will be provided monetary compensation as per the government rules, said a Forest official.
