Wild elephant tramples woman to death in Angul village

Angul: Adding to the unending episode of human-animal conflict in the State, a woman was trampled to death at Bajrakot village under Kaniha forest range in Angul district today.

The deceased has been identified as Nayani Sahu of the same locality.

As per the report, Nayani who was sick set out for a nearby hospital early this morning when the mishap took place. A wild elephant which had sneaked into the village the previous night pounced on him and lifted with trunk to slam on the ground. She died on the spot.

Forest officials rushed to the spot post the jumbo attack and rushed the deceased for autopsy.

Local in the village are in a state of panic due to the growing jumbo attack in the region as in a similar fashion a Olanda village a wild elephant had trampled a man to death at his home.
