Kendrapara: With no end in sight from sexual assault on women in the state, a widow was gang-raped by a group of men to avenge an alleged illicit love affair in Badapal Bazaar area under Marshaghai police station in the district.
The incident which took place on December 14 came to light yesterday after the victim woman lodged a complaint with Marshaghai Police last night.
As per the complaint, the victim identified as a resident of Rajarajeswarpur village under Rajnagar Police limits and a former cleaning staff of a private hospital located in Chandikhol had been engaged as an agricultural work by a local youth in Palaspur village. However, since her joining on the new work, the concerned youth’s wife was suspecting an illicit relationship between the duo.
“After warning her husband to stay away from me, the woman reached my house last Friday along with her two brothers and four others thrashed me severely. Later, the six men outraged my modesty. They also beat my employer mercilessly,” the victim mentioned in his complaint.
Meanwhile, police have detained at least four persons in connection with the case and started investigation into the incident.
