Bhubaneswar: White tigress ‘Rupa’ gave birth to 3 cubs in Nandankanan Zoological Park here on Friday, informed the authorities of the Zoological Park.
According to the official of Nandankanan, Rupa sired by tiger ‘Rajesh’ in safari gave birth to one normal coloured female cub at enclosure no 28 at 8.40 am followed by 2 more white colour male cubs at 3.20 pm and 3.50 pm.
Unfortunately, the tigress did not show interest in cubs and fed no colostrum to cubs after all efforts being first time motherhood, forced to go for hand rearing option.
All the three cubs weighing more than 1 kg and are so far responding well on hand-fed reconstituted milk. The veterinary team and Sanctuary staffs are taking all out efforts to keep the tiger cubs alive.
Currently, ‘Rupa’ is under CCTV monitoring.
