West Bengal firecracker factory blast prime accused dies in Odisha

Cuttack: The prime accused and owner of West Bengal firecracker factory blast died this morning while undergoing treatment in Odisha’s Cuttack city.

The prime accused, who has been identified as Bhanu Bag, died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack.

It is to noted here that Bag was present at the spot when blast occurred at his firecracker factory which left nine people dead on Tuesday. However, along with his son and another relative fled to avoid police arrest. They came to Odisha and were hiding in Cuttack city.

The West Bengal police had informed the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate about Bag’s presence in Cuttack City and arrested him from a private hospital. However, it could not take him to the neighbouring state as he had sustained 80 per cent burn injuries. Subsequently, he breathed his last thing morning.

With the death of Bhanu Bag, the death toll in the blast climbed to 10.
