Wedding gift blast survivor bride Reema discharged from SCB

Cuttack: Reema Sahu, who was injured in Patnagarh parcel bomb explosion in Balangir district, has been discharged from the SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Thursday. She was undergoing treatment in SCB Medical since two days after the wedding gift exploded on February 23.

Reema is slated to go to her parents’ house. However, her parents informed that she can stay anywhere she likes. “Reema can stay with us or with her father-in-law’s house according to her wish. It is up to her,” said her parents.

On the other hand, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Odisha Crime Branch, which is probing the case is yet to trace the parcel sender.

The probe team had visited Raipur in Chhattisgarh and grilled the owner of the Sky King Courier service and got to know that the wedding gift sender was communicating both in Hindi and Odia. Besides, it had grilled the deceased bridegroom Soumya Sekhar’s relatives. However, is still clueless of the accused.

Reema and Sekhar’s parents had even urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and demanded the arrest of the parcel sender.

Soumya and Reema had married on February 18. Five days later, they received a parcel as marriage gift, which, when they opened, exploded. Soumya and his grandmother Jemamani were killed due to the blast while Reema had sustained grievous burn injuries throughout her body. Initially, she was admitted to Balangir hospital. But, later was shifted to the Cuttack government hospital.
