Weather Update : MeT Dept issues Orange warning for Odisha’s 17 districts

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar issued a fresh Orange weather warning for thunderstorm with lightning over 17 districts of Odisha on Tuesday.

“ Thunderstorm with lightning and Thundersquall speed reaching 50-60 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Khordha, Kendrapara Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar and  Mayurbhanj. Also heavy rainfall/ hailstorm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kendrapara till till 8.30 AM on Wednesday,” the latest bulletin said.

The Met department also issued Yellow weather warning

“ Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Nayagarh, Puri and Ganjam till 8.30 AM on Wednesday,” the bulletin added.

The weathermen also forecast that maximum temperature will likely to be 40°C or above at some places over the interior districts of the State. The highest maximum temperature of 41.50  Celsius was recorded at  Balangir.
