Weather Update: IMD issues Yellow warning to 16 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Metrological Centre Bhubaneswar here has issued a weather forecast and warning for the next five days on Saturday.

According to the Evening weather bulletin issued by IMD on October 16, 2021, the Low Pressure Area over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal now lies over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards.

The east-west trough between 1.5 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level now runs across Eastcentral Bay of Bengal from Gulf of Martaban adjoining North Andaman Sea to the cyclonic circulation associated with the above Low Pressure Area over north Coastal Andhra Pradesh & neighbourhood.

Day 1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 17.10.2021):

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara Bhadrak and Balasore.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and Boudh.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 17.10.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 18.10.2021)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, North Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Interior Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul and Dhenkanal.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.10.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 19.10.2021)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh and Kandhamal.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.10.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 20.10.2021)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, North Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Interior Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.

Day 5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 20.10.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 21.10.2021)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and dry weather over the rest districts of Odisha.
