Bhubaneswar: Supply of pipe drinking water in the state may be hit from this midnight as the members of Odisha State Water Supply and Sanitation Employees’ Coordination Committee have threatened to launch a cease work strike across the state.

The members of the association are taking such tough call to press their demand  of job regularisation.

“Since last 25 years, as many as 2078 employees have been serving in the water supply department both in rural and urban areas in the state on contractual basis. We have approached the State Government several times for our job regularisation but in vain”, said Purnachandra Dixit.

“We have no other option instead to launch a cease work strike across the state from this midnight”, he added.

The employees have launched a relay strike in the State capital here for the last three months to draw the government’s attention towards their plight.
