Bhubaneswar: In a statement that is certain to cause resentment among the people in the urban areas of the state, Housing and Urban Development Minister Niranjan Pujari on Monday said that the flood like situation is common even in metro cities.
“Water-logging is common even in metro cities. I have seen knee-deep water at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The JICA works have caused it in Cuttack. Water is being pumped out,” said the Minister when asked about the situation of the Silver City.
“The JICA works will be completed within a year,” he added.
Drain water has entered in the houses of the city dwellers and different establishments. Vehicular movement havsalso been affected in the city as people have to commute in knee-deep dirty water.
The situation in certain places is so grim that the district administration is having to provide cooked food at different government buildings.
