Water level at Hirakud dam records slight fall, flood fear still lingers

Sambalpur: In a small respite following the continuous rise of water level at the reservoir at Hirkud dam, it registered a fall today.

As per the dam source, the fall in water level was noticed after release of excess water from the dam through 20 gates yesterday.

The water level at the dam remained at 620.87 ft against storage capacity of 630 ft by 6.00 am on August 16, it added.

Per second 1,51,550 cusec of water is entering into the dam and 3,28,295 cusec is being discharged. However, water level at Mahanadi river has registered dynamic trend. At some points, the water level has recorded rises whereas at some other places it has registered a fall.
