WATCH “Asa Kariba Bobaal, Odisha Naa Heba Global”: Odia cheer-up song of Men’s Hockey World Cup

Bhubaneswar: With Hockey fever gripping the entire state of Odisha for the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup, the Sports & Youth Services Department of Odisha Government released the Odia cheer-up song of the major Hockey event today.

Infarct, the 2.20-minute video has doubled the joy of the sports lover of the state as it has been released on the occasion of Diwali today.

Noted Bollywood singer Mika Singh has lent his voice for “Asa Kariba Bobbal, Odisha Naa Heba Global.”

People from different age group and profession including school children and housewives have been featured in the video song.

Artists of two famous dances of Odisha – Odissi and Sambalpuri – are also seen in the video which has a Sambalpuri rhythm.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera and former Indian hockey team captain Dilip Tirkey are also starring in the premiere video.

Sharing the video on its twitter handle the Sports & Youth Services Department of Odisha said, “Every Cup needs a song. Here is one for Odisha! Presenting the Odia cheer-up song of the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018 by @MikaSingh.”


On the other hand, people are seen making beelines before the ticket counters to get a ticket for the mega event in Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup-2018 is slated to commence from November 28 and conclude with the final on December 16.

There are 16 teams split into four pools — A, B, C and D. While Pool A consists of Argentina, New Zealand, Spain and France; Australia will take on England, Ireland and China in Pool B. The matches will be held among Belgium, India, Canada and South Africa in Pool C. The three-time world champion team Netherlands will play against Germany, Malaysia and Pakistan in Pool D.

The host nation India will also be in action on the opening day as they face World No. 15 South Africa in the second match.

World No. 5 Indian team is scheduled to play two more matches in Pool C, which will be against Belgium on 2nd December 2018 and Canada on 8th December 2018.
