Nayagarh: In a crackdown on history-sheeters in the district, police nabbed wanted criminal Kabuli Khan following an encounter under Nayagarh Town Police Station area last night.
The nabbed criminal sustained bullet injury during the encounter.
Acting on a tip-off on the whereabouts of Khan, a special squad of Town Police conducted a raid on Solapata-Darapada Road late in the night where he had been spotted last. Finding cops approaching him, the criminal opened fire at them and sustained bullet injury on his right leg in return fire by police.
Khan was immediately rushed to Nayagarh DHH where his condition is stated to be out of danger.
“Khan was involved in over 20 cases of murder, loot and dacoity pending against him at different police stations in Nayagarh, Boudh, Puri, and Khordha districts. He was on police’s radar since long over his link to gangster Hyder,” said Nayagarh SP Asish Singh.
“Police seized a pistol and at least four live bullets from the possession of the arrested criminal,” added Singh.
