Angul: Continuing with its crackdown on history-sheeters in the district, Angul Police last night arrested wanted criminal Badal Rout after conducting an encounter at Lingaraj Mines area in Talcher. Badal sustained bullet injury on his leg during the raid.
As per the report, the special squad of Angul Police conducted a raid in Lingaraj Mines area following a tip-off on the presence of Badal along with two of his aides. Finding the police team chasing them the criminals opened fire at it and Badal sustained bullet injury on his right thigh in retaliation.
While both the aides of the criminal managed to give police a slip during the gun battle, they seized a pistol and two bullets from the spot.
Badal was taken to Angul DHH for treatment and then shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack.
Police said, Badal who is a resident of Chandbali area was involved in an ATM loot case in Bhadrak and had earlier been nabbed in an encounter in Ganjam’s Polsara area, two years ago.
